چکیده

Internal loop recorders (ILRs) are frequently implanted in patients with syncope or paroxysmal tachycardias. Built-in auto-activation algorithms are not perfect, but have much improved in the newer, smaller devices. We report a case of a 64-year-old patient with recurrent syncope and ILR which detected an atrioventricular block III8 while the patient was asymptomatic. Would you proceed with pacemaker implantation?

Pacemaker lead endocarditis with hiccups (Kalayci)

Background: Lead-related infections that might develop after pacemaker implantation associated with high mortality and morbidity rates are challenging to manage and pose high-cost. Patients with lead-related infections usually present with fever, chills and fatigue and the treatment can be challenging unless the implant system is extracted. Case presentation: A 66-year old male patient who und...

Complete Congenital Heart Block in a Neonatal Lupus Erythematosus Associated with Pulmonary Involvement without Pacemaker Implantation: A Case Report

Background: Neonatal lupus erythematosus is an uncommon disease. Congenital complete heart block (CCHB) usually happens in neonates with maternal systemic lupus erythematosus. The most prevalent presentation of CCHBis bradycardiathatcanbediagnosed through an electrocardiogram. Case report: Here in, we present the case of a full-term male neonate with gestational age of 37 weeks and birth weigh...

Erosive Pressure Dermatitis Associated with Cardiac Pacemaker

Erosive dermatitis is a skin reaction associated with implantable cardiac devices (ie, pacemakers and cardioverter defibrillators). We report a 65-year-old man with a history of several cerebrovascular attacks who developed an erythematous crusted erosive patch over the pacemaker site after implantation of two subsequent pacemakers. We suggest that physical irritation may be a trigger factor fo...

Commentary: An Unusual Case of Leadless Pacemaker Implantation in a Patient with Wolff–Parkinson-White Syndrome: Just Because We Can, Does That Mean That We Should?

In the case presented by Drs. Tanaka-Esposito and Cantillon, a patient deemed to be at risk of developing unpredictable atrioventricular (AV) block based on electrophysiology findings and a catheter ablation procedure is chosen for the implantation of a leadless pacemaker that will provide permanent, prophylactic ventricular pacing. Briefly, this case involved a patient with a midseptal accesso...

Exercise-Stress Echocardiography Reveals Systolic Anterior Motion of the Mitral Valve as a Cause of Syncopes in a Cardiac Amyloidosis Patient

Patients with cardiac amyloidosis are at increased AV-block and syncope risk. Therefore, a prophylactic pacemaker is often implanted. However, this case illustrates that other mechanisms should be ruled out prior to pacemaker implantation. The patient studied had mitral valve thickening without increased left ventricular outflow track (LVOT) velocity. However, bicycle exercise-stress test with ...
